Young actress Kawashima Umika (15) has been appointed as the teenage image character for Calpis Water and attended a PR event in Tokyo on the 17th.

For generations Calpis only used popular personalities for their commercials, with the first one being Goto Kumiko in 1993. Now the next image character is going to be Kawashima who appears together with actor Nakamura Aoi and she seems to be somewhat excited to work for this popular brand. "I really can't believe it and I can't wait to see the reaction of everyone around me."

Kawashima had her 15th birthday on the 3rd this month and on the 16th she graduated from her junior high school in Saitama. Calpis made her a special cake on those occasions (picture below).

In April she's going to enter a private high school in Tokyo and she's going to be a very busy girl as a regular in the upcoming dorama "Aishteru ~Kaiyo~" (NTV) and her first movie starring role in "Keitai Kareshi" (Mobile Boyfriend). "In junior high we weren't allowed to take side trips on our way to or from school, but in senior high school I want to go at a family restaurant and have a girls talk with friends. I also want to experience love, but for now work comes first."

The CM will go on-air on the 25th.
