It has been announced that teen actress Kutsuna Shiori (16) will have her first starring role in a dorama for BS Asahi's "70,000 Tentei Nitobe" (4/23~, Thursdays at 11pm).
It's the 2nd original dorama for that station and Kutsuna plays an ordinary high school student named Nitobe Tsugumi who works in a street fashion shop. She doesn't really have a lot of friends, but she might be Japan's fastest message writing girl. In a mobile community she stays in contact with over 70,000 people and her hobby also is to take pictures with her mobile phone. One of those pictures accidentally shows a murder scene and with the help of the wisdom of all her mobile friends, she tries to solve the difficult case herself and also shows that she can create bonds with other people.
Last year Kutsuna became the "50th Pocky Princess" which gave her an enormous boost in popularity. In June she will make her movie debut with "Shugotenshi" (Guardian Angel) and next to the mentioned dorama, she's also going to appear as a regular cast in the Fuji TV dorama "Majo Saiban". People around her also can't hold back praising her. "She made an incredible impact with her Pocky commercials. In reality she's already so adult-like, not to mention her extremely beautiful smile."
Filming starts on the 30th this month and Kutsuna can't wait to get to work on her first dorama starring role. "I'm not really a mobile phone person myself, so I'm already in the middle of practicing typing. I can't wait to start filming." Rokkaku Seiji (46) will also appear as a detective and as contrast to Nitobe in the dorama.
