Last week various Korean sites posted the full Korean trailer for Young-nam Kim's "Boat" in anticipation of its domestic release on May 28th. Meanwhile an alternative Japanese teaser was posted on its official Japanese site. In Japan the movie will be called "No Boys, No Cry", but the Japanese release date hasn't been announced yet.
The movie stars Jung-woo Ha ("The Chaser", "My Dear Enemy"), Tsumabuki Satoshi (starring in NHK's current historical dorama "Tenchijin", also was in "Orange Days" and "IWGP"; several big movie roles like in "Pandemic", "Dororo" and "Spring Snow") and Kanjiya Shihori (23 years old; recent "Love Shuffle" dorama and movies like "Swing Girls" or "Survive Style 5+") in the leading roles.
In the film, Jung-woo Ha plays a low-level smuggler named Hyeong-ku who uses a small boat to transport drugs to his partner in Japan, Toru (Tsumabuki), 3 or 4 times a month. When their boss orders them to kidnap a girl name Jisu (Tokunaga Eri; 20 years old) and bring her to Japan, Toru sees an opportunity to steal $2 million of their organization's money. Hyeong-ku gets caught in the middle as things go really bad for the both of them in a hurry.
The script was penned by Aya Watanabe, who previously wrote screenplays for Maison de Himiko and A Gentle Breeze in the Village, among others.
