Much in the same vein as the "Sukeban Deka" series, Fuji TV’s "Hana no Asuka-gumi!" (Flowers of the Asuka Gang) followed the exploits of tough-as-nails high schooler Asuka Kuraku as she stood up to an all-girl crime syndicate with the help of her friends. In Tsurita Yutaka's Hana no Asuka-gumi NEO!, 16-year-old Takayama Yuko takes on the role of Asuka and investigates a new addictive candy causing random suicides at her school. When she finds a dropped wallet containing a huge wad of cash, she suspects something strange is going on. She tracks down the owner and discovers the money is connected to the pedaling of UF, which stands for “ultra fruit” and is described as “a pink candy that’s impossible to stop licking”. Oh, the innuendo… “Hana no Asuka-gumi NEO!” will be released in Japan on April 25, 2009.
