Today it got revealed that Ishihara Satomi (22) is going to play Akiyama Sueko, the wife of navy soldier Akiyama Saneyuki in NHK's special epic dorama called "Saka no Ue no Kumo". Actor Motoki Masahiro (43) appears in the starring role as Saneyuki. We were able to see Ishihara as the bride in her wedding gown and Motoko in his naval uniform for the marriage ceremony.

"Saka no Ue no Kumo" is a very special dorama that is planned to get 13 episodes (90min each) over the period of 3 years. The first episode is going to air on November 29, 2009 and 4 more after that still in 2009. Episode 6-9 will air sometime in 2010 and episode 10-13 in 2011. It's based on a novel by Shiba Ryoutarou.

Ishihara was dressed as the noble young woman who marries Saneyuko, an inportant character in the Russo-Japanese War. It plays in the Meiji period, so she had to look really graceful with her black hem and always walked behind her "husband".

Motoki also had a very gallant short hair cut in order to make him look like a real major of the navy. He was also wearing a complete military uniform and often gave his "wife" a kind smile.

"When I see how well the full-dress uniform suits Motoki, my heart starts to throb really fast and I can feel the happiness. I'm happy that I can be his wife safely today." Ishihara said with a nervous smile. Motoki couldn't hold back a smile, when his 'wife' revealed her innocent thoughts and replied, "We are having brilliant marriage weather and all the trees are glittering thanks to last night's rain."

Sueko won't appear until the 2nd part of episodes that airs in 2010. She's a Meiji woman who was able to "change" Saneyuki's heart with her innocence. He has been a single for 36 years. "Sue-san is both, a very modest and a very strong person. She's a woman gifted with both intelligence and beauty, but I think Saneyuki got also attracted by her unique humor. Ishihara fits perfectly, since she has that same natural cheerfulness." Motoki more than clearly approved of Ishihara. He furthermore admired how she looks in the wedding gown, "She's elegant and beautiful", which made her giggle and brought a shy smile on her face. "Motoki-san's eyes are sparkling. I'm happy because he is. I.. don't know what to comment." Ishihara blushed. Motoki was placed in a difficult situation as his real wife, actress Uchida Yayako (33) must have been very jealous. His awkward state brought him a lot of laughter.

The filming for this epic dorama project will last until next year, but Motoki just recently won an Oscar with the movie "Okuribito" (Departures) in which he had the starring role, so he should be very well prepared for the task.
