The spectacular movie "Goemon" has been in the cinemas since May 1st and on the 5th the cast spread out to 5 different cities to celebrate the huge success of the movie. This event was still part of the "Unification of The Whole Country" campaign they started with massive preview screening prior to the official opening date.
The celebrations have been wild as it made a fantastic box-office of 4.424.188 US Dollar on its first weekend, including May 1st. Director Kiriya Kazuaki and actor Gori went from Sapporo to Fukuoka, actor Eguchi Yosuke and actress Hirosue Ryoko went from Nagoya to Osaka, and in the end they all (except for Hirosue) linked up in a Hotel in Tokyo again to thank the whole production crew for their hard work.
A big shower of beer was the highlight of the event and made them look like real sportsmen. "I've seen it after baseball games on TV, but this is a first for me. Incredible! Everyone gave 120% for the movie. Of course we had some hopes and wishes, but we never thought that it would that successful." Eguchi commented afterwards in a slightly drunk state. "However, I don't bring along any extra clothes to get changed now." He added with a bitter smile.
Hirosue wasn't there when they got showered with the beer (regrettable, isn't it?), but nobody can possibly be mad at her. She had to leave her 5-years-old son home alone with a care-taker on Children's Day long enough already. "I felt a bit despondent that I had to work on Children's Day, but I'm really happy for such a great welcome here."

Japan starts the summer blockbuster season with what could be a real masterpiece and sets the bar high for what there is to come. Actor Eguchi Yosuke and "Oscar-Actress" Hirosue Ryoko in the two main starring roles, but list of the cast is much longer than that (eg. Sato Eriko, Toda Erika, Tsuruta Mayu and so on).

Sometime in May..
Hijoshi zukan
Takashi Shimizu has put together a 6-part (7 if you count his own introduction) omnibus film by six different directors called Hijoshi Zukan. Each segment features a unique female protagonist in an unexpected situation. The film will begin screening at Theater Tsutaya in Shibuya in May.
Interesting for us are Adachi Rika (16) in part 1, Yamasaki Mami (23) in part 2 and Naka Riisa (19) in part 6, but of course all of them actresses are great nonetheless. ^^

Yay, the 4th teaser/trailer for the CG spectacle "Goemon" is out and it's looking awesome. It's the first time we can see the flow of the narration and it seems like that Kiriya Kazuaki will surpass his previous movie "Casshern" not only visually but also story-wise. It's one of my personal highlights this year.
The cast alone makes it one of the best movies this year.
Eguchi Yosuke, Osawa Takao, Hirosue Ryoko (photo), Gori, Kaname Jun, Tamayama Tesuji, Choi Hong Man, Sato Eriko, Toda Erika, Tsuruta Mayu, Ryo, Fujisawa Ema, Sada Mayumi, Fukuda Mayuko, Nakamura Hashinosuke, Kihinata Fumiyo, Terajima Susumu, Hira Mikijiro, Ibu Masato, Okuda Eiji and more.

Favorite actors/actresses of the winter season
Posted by: Pori in Dorama, Eikura Nana, Hirosue Ryoko, Ishihara Satomi, Kanno Miho, KarinaWeekly entertainment magazine "Oricon Star" asked over 3000 of their readers about the currently ending winter TV season and published the results under the title of the "Winter Dorama AWARD'09". Mizushima Hiro and Kanno Miho both ranked first in their respective categories.
Mizushima is the most popular actor of the current winter season. His role as an ikemen butler in the dorama "Mei-chan no Shitsuji" gained him a lot of popularity. Especially girls now dream to have a butler like him and that's the reason why got voted onto the top of the list. "It would be great, if there really was such a cool butler." - "His snobby lines perfectly match with his appeareance." - "His fantastic acting and the mysterious athmosphere it creates, my hearts racing everytime I see him."
Kanno Miho convinced with her role as sharp-witted female detective Kiina in the dorama "Kiina -Impossible Crime Investigator-". She is very happy to be on the first place and explained her hardships she had as Kiina. "I really admire the flair of Kiina, but the huge amount of lines was not so good. (laughs)" Kanno usually is the type who plays roles of calm career women and therefore she might have not been too familiar with a role with so much to say.
For the whole top10 in both categories and an interview with the cast of "Voice", go and buy the magazine.

On Tuesday actress Hirosue Ryoko (28) arrived back in Japan after she went to Los Angeles where she as part of the movie "Okuribito" (English title: "Departures") received the Oscar for Best Foreign Movie. "The Oscar statue was heavy. I think I'll never be as excited and moved again, that's why I want to preserve this feeling."
At the same day she even had to attend another screening in Tokyo. Many cinemas are putting the movie back in their programs and even in America it's going to open in many more cinemas. In Japan it's been out for more than 23 weeks already, but during the 2 days after the Oscar it once more grossed 95,000,000 Yen. Even the book the movie is based on started to sell very well again. The Oscar fever won't stop.
At the airport the "Oscar-Actress" was welcomed by over 50 reporters. She didn't show any tiredness despite the long flight. "I didn't expect this reaction in Japan at all and I was astonished by all the mails I got from friends. I hope that feeling will stay for a while. It's everyone's award." She was asked whether she already plans to advance into Hollywood. "There might be some opportunities now, althought I haven't really studied English so far."
Hugh Jackman also arrived in Japan the same night to start promoting his movie "Australia" in Japan. He has even been on the same plane as Hirosue. "I'd love to co-act together with her in the near future." Hirosue was clearly surprised when she heard about that from the reporters. "He really said that? I'm honored!!"
Hollywood is definitely more than just a dream for Hirosue, after all she already co-acted together with Jean Reno in the movie "Wasabi" which was a collaboration between France and Japan.
Hirosue wasn't able to say something on stage when receiving the Oscar, but in the backstage came she was able to say 1-2 sentences to the camera. Check out the backstage clip here:

Weekly magazine "FRIDAY" exposed what looks like a secret date late at night between actor Nagai Masaru and actress Hirosue Ryoko.
The two have been spotted together in dinging bar in Tokyo way after 1:00am. There are even photographs of the couple in the magazine, but due to such a public place, the two are said to have done no actions that could label them as a couple.
Last summer both of them appeared in the TBS dorama "Long Wedding Road". It would be a sudden action of Hirosue who just got divorced from designer and model Okazawa Takahiro in March, last year. Both of their agencies denied the rumor, "It was just a meal of two friends. They are not dating each other."

In December, Toho revealed that director Isshin Inudo would be in charge of a new film adaptation of the popular Seicho Matsumoto novel "Zero no Shoten," also known by the English title "Zero Focus." The movie's main cast has now been revealed, with actress Ryoko Hirosue taking the starring role.
The story, set in the 1950s, centers around a newlywed woman (Hirosue) whose husband Kenichi (Hidetoshi Nishijima) fails to return from a business trip. She sets out to search for him, but uncovers that he has been living a double life.
Hirosue's strong supporting cast includes Miki Nakatani as the wife of a company president, Tae Kimura as that company's receptionist, Tetta Sugimoto as Kenichi's brother, and Takeshi Kaga as Kenichi's boss.
Filming has already started in Kanazawa and is expected to continue until April. Toho is aiming for an autumn release.
